I am proud to be the Headteacher at Upper Rhymney Primary School and feel privileged to enjoy coming to work every day!
I have spent over 25 years in education, as a teacher in a variety of schools from Nursery through to Year 6, and also as a Foundation Phase Advisor for ESIS.
I am a Designated Safeguarding Person for our school.

Mrs Rowland

Hello Everyone!!
I am Sally Rowland also known as Mrs Rowland to the children.
I am the school clerk at Upper Rhymney. I only started working here last June but absolutely love it.
The staff and the children have made me feel very welcome indeed and I feel like I have worked here for much longer.
My day is different every single day - that’s one of the things I love about my job! I am usually the one who answers the office phone and I'm here to help you as best I can with all your school queries.

Hi, I'm Paul Moseley the caretaker at Upper Rhymney Primary School. I have been here since August 2015 and love my job.
I really enjoy working at the school, interacting with the children and being part of the school team.

Miss Andrews
Deputy, Year 6 Teacher & Designated Safeguarding Person

I am the Deputy Head Teacher at Upper Rhymney Primary School and I also teach Year 6 (Dosbarth Nedd Fechan).
I am responsible for the Languages, Literacy and Communication area of learning where there are plenty of opportunities to take part in activities using different languages. This includes Read, Write, Inc, Literacy, Cymraeg and Le Francais.
I organise the Urdd club where children have the opportunity to take part in multiple activities including recitations, singing, folk dancing, art and craft and many more.
I am a Designated Safeguarding Person for the School.

Mrs Bradbeer
Year 4/5 Teacher
Hello, my name is Mrs Bradbeer!
I teach in Dosbarth Sirhowy (Year 4/5) and I work with Ms Evans.
I am responsible for the Science and Technology area of learning alongside Miss Goggin and Miss Brown. This area of learning covers biology, chemistry, computer science, design and technology, and physics to enhance learners’ knowledge and understanding of the world.
I am also the digital lead in the school and I manage everything related to IT. I run a very busy STEM club every Tuesday after school. I also meet with the digital leaders once a month to work as a team.

Miss Jones
Year 2/3Teacher
I teach in Dosbarth Tawe, which is a mixed year 1 and 2 class of 24 gorgeous children.
My roles at Upper Rhymney include me being part of the senior leadership team and I am the professional learning lead.
Due to my passion for number crunching I am also responsible for Maths and Numeracy.
I enjoy playing the harp and piano and I accompany children singing. Being part of the Urdd after school club and taking children to the Eisteddfod also gives me great pleasure.

Mrs Hatfield
Year 1/2 Teacher
I am Mrs Hatfield and I’ve been a teacher at Upper Rhymney Primary School for 18 years.
I currently teach Year 1 and 2 children in Dosbarth Tawe alongside Miss Goggin and lead the Health and Well-being area of our curriculum.
I organise many of the sporting events throughout the year like cross-country, netball and football festivals, table tennis and sports day. I love dancing and cheer so enjoy sharing this in our after-school clubs and for the Eisteddfod.

Mrs Dearsley
Reception/Year 1 Teacher
Hello!!
I’m Mrs Dearsley and I teach in Dosbarth Taff a mixed Reception and Year 1 class in our fabulous Foundation Phase department.
I am the school Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator (ALNCo) and I am part of the Senior Leadership Team.
I am the Expressive Arts lead for the Expressive Arts team within the new curriculum with Mrs Beddoe, Mrs Lloyd and our school governor Mrs Maggs.
I am a level 3 trained Forest School leader and I run the Board Game's club with Mrs Hill Andrews and Miss Knight.

Ms Morgan

I am the L.S.A in years 5 & 6 with Miss Andrews & Mrs Hatfield, we are a great team.
I am HLTA trained and I have been carrying out the role for some time now.
I am responsible for the Languages, Literacy and Communication area of learning in Welsh, English and French. I assess the whole school with their Literacy and reading and prepare the relevant data for the whole school.
I lead the R.W.I. literacy intervention and also train other staff when needed. I am also involved in rolling out the Welsh Guided reading scheme throughout the school.
Within my role I often plan and teach the curriculum to year 5 & 6. I work with groups of children and work 1-1 with individual children for literacy intervention. I also offer support to those children who require it.
I am experienced and qualified to work with children with additional needs e.g. Behaviour, ASD, ADHD, ACES, Attachment, Precision Teaching, Right Brain Approach and Speech & Language to name a few.

Miss Henderson
Higher Level Teaching Assistant & Midday Supervisory Assistant
Su'mae pawb, Miss Henderson ydw i.
I am a HLTA, covering PPA across the school and teaching outdoor learning. I am also a Thrive Licensed Practitioner, and the Eco-Schools Co-ordinator.
I am a part of the Humanities team helping to prepare for the new curriculum. I am also trained in WRAP, Thrive, RWI, Mental Health First Aid, Community Focused Schools and have completed my Carbon Literacy training.
Within my role I plan and teach outdoor learning to all classes. I offer support to those children who require it. I am experienced and qualified to work with children with additional needs, for example, Behaviour, ASD, ACES, Attachment, Right Brain Approach and Mental Health and Wellbeing.
I represent the Non-Teaching Staff on the school Governing body.
I have been a member of the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association for about 14 years, firstly taking on the role as secretary, and currently hold the Treasurer's position.

Mrs Beddoe
Teaching Assistant & Breakfast Club Team
I am Mrs Beddoe.
I am the teaching assistant in Dosbarth Taff and I also help children when they need a little extra support.
I work alongside Mrs Dearsley and we make an awesome team! I love reading and walking in the great outdoors.

Miss Brown
Teaching Assistant
Hi, I’m Miss Brown and I am a teaching assistant in Dosbarth Rhymni.
I have worked in classes all over the school. I have been at Upper Rhymney for over 10 years.
I also run an intervention called ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) which is great because I get to work with children from all over the school.
I am also first aid trained.

Ms Evans

Hi everyone! I am Ms Evans.
I originally started as a volunteer at Upper Rhymney Primary School and have had the pleasure of being part of the team now for the last 22 years.
I am a Teaching Assistant in Dosbarth Sirhowy in the mornings and carry our ELSA sessions in the afternoons. Since being at Upper Rhymney I have worked with every year group from year 6 down to nursery.
I work with groups of children and 1-1 when needed. I have the experience and training to use in interventions with additional learning needs, such as: ELSA, ASD, ACES, ADHD, Positive Behaviour Management, R.W.I, Popat, Speech and Language etc.
Another role I have is Midday Supervisor and I am also First Aid trained.
I really enjoy teaching all the subjects but my passion is art and anything creative.

I have worked in Upper Rhymney Primary School as a Teaching Assistant for over 20 years.
I work in the Foundation Department, currently in Dosbarth Tawe.
I am part of the Humanities team and have supported children over the years with reading, speech and language and additional learning needs.
I am a First Aider.

I have many jobs at Upper Rhymney School, breakfast club assistant, catering kitchen staff at dinner time and I am a 1-1 support in Dosbarth Taff. I have also had the experience of working up the juniors.

Hello everyone! I am Miss Hill
Here is some information about me . . . .
I have been working in education for 30 years but have had the pleasure of being part of Upper Rhymney for 25 years.
I am the Nursery leader, form part of the Mathematics and Numeracy team and a First Aider.
Since I have started at Upper Rhymney I have worked with Nursery and Reception children, but I also support older Primary children with Language and Literacy intervention.
My favourite things to teach are Mathematics and Read Write Inc. I love being hands on and creative. I also enjoy singing and can be heard singing many songs and rhymes with the children.

Mrs Lloyd

Hello everyone! I am Mrs Lloyd.
I have been working within education for 20+ years, and have had the pleasure of working in Upper Rhymney Primary School for the last 16 years.
I am a teaching assistant, a licensed Thrive practitioner, a first aider and part of the team that lead expressive arts, along with Mrs Dearsley and Mrs Beddoe.
I have considerable experience working with children with ALN (additional learning needs), to enable me to support these children I have had the opportunity to complete a wide range of training to use in interventions including RWI intervention, ASD, ADHD, Positive behaviour management, Speech and language, Popat, Comit, Right brain approach etc.
Since working in education, I have worked with the Super Shelby intervention team for Caerphilly County Borough Council and as a leader in the Meithrin for the Mudiad, before joining Upper Rhymney. At Upper Rhymney I have worked in classes from Nursery right through to Year 4.
My favourite thing to teach is anything hands on and creative. I love to teach all subjects through hands on experiences, as I believe children always learn when having fun x

My Name is Natalie Brown. I have been working here for over 5 years. I am a Midday Supervisor and have worked with Nursery all the way to Year 6 (with whole classes and as a 1to1 midday supervisor).
I love my job - every day is different - and getting to know the children and their personalities, while watching them grow.
